"The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are." — Carl Jung
The story.
I was born and raised in Houston, yet a big piece of my heart will always be in upstate New York, where I spent my summers with extended family. There’s something about the energy, diversity, and vibrancy of a big city and the peace that comes from returning to nature with family that makes me feel whole and reflects my constant search for balance.
We can talk about balance, but I know first-hand that living it takes an ongoing and conscious effort. I embrace demanding roles in my career and family and soak up adventure when I can, but I also need time to recenter and find peace through yoga, long walks, and, of course, by seeing my own therapist! I deeply believe that attending to our body AND mind cultivates a resilience in us to navigate life's natural ups and downs, the joys and struggles, the growth and the loss, and all the bittersweetness that life offers us.
My experience in therapy began in my 20s. I was an ambitious, young professional living in New York City. I was trying to balance work, relationships, and new responsibilities while figuring out what I wanted in life. I went to therapy for support with the anxiety that came with so much change, but what kept me coming back was the deep value I found in someone holding space for all my dreams, hopes, and struggles as I walked through each stage of my life.
Right when we think we’ve got it all figured out, life can throw us a curveball - the death of a loved one, an unexpected fertility journey, the end of a relationship, or even a global pandemic - and it’s in these times that I am so grateful I have invited therapy into my own life. To have someone that knows me deeply, has been along for the ride, and can listen with compassion and care as I work through the pain and find my footing again.
Therapy changed my life and I can’t wait to give that same gift to you.
My training.
Exploring people's stories and relationships has always been at the core of my work; first as a NYC public school teacher, then as a career coach, and now as a therapist. I am an alum of the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work, where I earned my LMSW. I secured and completed an internship at The Menninger Clinic, one of the top-ranked psychiatric hospitals in the country.
At Menninger, I received extensive training in various modalities, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment theory, and mentalization-based therapy. I facilitated individual and compassion-focused group therapy for adolescent and adult patients, respectively. I am currently enrolled as a student at the Center for Modern Psychoanalytic Studies and will begin training at the Center for Group Studies in Spring 2025.
As a therapist, I lead with compassion and curiosity, utilizing a strengths-based approach.
My commitment.
I look forward to getting to know you and holding space for your story. I will provide a comfortable, non-judgmental environment for you to process, share, explore, and deepen your self-awareness to help you improve your quality of life. I feel deeply called to do this work as a therapist and know it is a huge responsibility. You will be met with deep respect and care as we will work collaboratively to foster growth and transformation in your life.
